Making for Harper Rose 1st Birthday

Making for Harper Rose 1st Birthday
18th June 2021

Well where did that year go.

It was like only yesterday we were told of the impending birth of this little girl.

Then we were told that she is going to arrive earlier than expected.

When she did arrive it was a wonderful event.

I expect this is the way everyone feels while waiting for the newest member of your family/tribe to come into this world.

So Harper Rose if this blog is still around when and if ever you search for it

here is what i made for you:

2 bibs, 3 long sleeve tops, 3 leggings, 1 pair of pink socks, 1 jumper, 1 bonnet, 1 over dress, 1 overalls
and i found a fridge lunch bag, from the local newsagent, with your name on it.

Ginsberg Mini by Maria Montzka in size 1-2. Yarn used is Patons Dreamtime Merino in Gold Amber for the bodice. The inside neck ribbing and bobbles Skein in skein sock pretty in pink . The body was Birdhouse Fibres ultra sock heatwave in pink. I alternated the yarn as it came in two 50gram balls and the skeins were different in colourways.
Simplicity pattern 2900 made in soft corduroy in size 12 months.  I used a craft cotton that i cut on the bias for the arm holes and front and back facing. Then i added these cute heart buttons in blue.

Simplicity pattern 1566 overalls in this cute bunny rabbit pinwhale corduroy. I omitted the crutch opening as Harper is used to being dressed/undressed for nappy change. The close up picture of the button is the closest colour to the corduroy. This actually was the quickest thing to sew.

Liberty of London Baby Bib
A great bib pattern from Purl Soho. It is free. I used a handtowel that has not been used and the same cotton print i used for the corduroy dress. Instead of press studs i used velcro. When i make this again i will enlarge it as at 1 year its a little on the small size and Harper is still teething.

Simplicity pattern 1566

free leggings pattern from Andreas Notebook
I used May Gibbs cotton lycra fabric i purchased from Spotlight to sew these delightful long sleeve tshirts and leggings. For the tshirts i omitted button openings on the shoulders as Harper has become used to wearing stretchy tops. The leggings i used the 9 months to 12 months size but in retrospect they could have been bigger. So i will be ordering a pattern for 18 months onwards.

Beloved Bonnet by Tin Can Knits and Baby socks by Kate Atherley

The Baby socks yarn used was
Beloved Bonnet yarn used was  Misti Alpaca Handpainted Sock. I held it double as i knitted it. I even added a little label at the inside back ..that says Carolyn Boots Handmade. This yarn has made this hat super soft and hopefully none of the itchies happens.
added my Carolyn Boots Handmade label to indicate back of the bonnet.

I do actually have 2 unfinished garments on the needles and the hook for Harper but that will be my next making post in the future.

but for now

Follow your passion

Carolyn
